It’s not impossible to impress your to-best but it’s not easy either. Here are 10 steps to impress you guys parents!

1. Dress appropriately: It’s very important to dress according to the family culture but that does not mean that you have to go all old school. Don’t wear hot outfits that show much of your curves. Dress stylish but simple at the same. Don’t try to make a fashion statement there.

2. Do your homework: Don’t go blank. Your aim is to win their hearts. Get to know about the family culture. Get to know more about them so you will know what is safe to talk about and what is not.

3. Take a gift along: It’s your first time meeting them; take your time to buy them something worthy. Nothing fancy but something useable. Keep it simple, it shouldn't look like a bribe.

4. Don't be a know it all: You probably know everything about your guy, from his favourite colour to his biggest dream come true but understand that his parents know him better. Families can get real protective if they know that a third person knows their son better than they do.

5. Let them do the talking: After exchanging pleasantries sit back and relax. Don’t be over neither friendly nor too restrictive. Let them do the talking and try to understand them more. After a while you can start talking about yourself. Do not brag, they'll take you for a stuck up person.

6. Spare the guy: Most of your conversations may revolve around the guy. Parents might want to spill beans and you are probably tempted to hear it in an attempt to know him better. But this would be embarrassing for the guy, so avoid ganging up with parents and turning against him.

7. No PDA: You can definitely sit next to your guy, but no PDA. Avoid holding hands and absolutely no cuddling. Be respectful, after all elders are around.

8. Watch his ways: You may feel that your boyfriend in front of his parents is no longer your boyfriend. He might not be the lover you knew, in fact he’ll be the opposite. Don't worry, even he is nervous. As long as he's not too mean to you, just relax!

9. Ignore the 'ex' factor: So what if his parents met his ex-girlfriend and loved her. He loves you and you love him, that’s what matters. If this topic crops up, dont dig too much into it, just smile and change the topic.

10. There is always a second chance: So you didn’t hit it off at the right note. Does not matter. Probably even his parents needed time to open up and were just as shy as you were. Life always gives you a second chance, it’s called tomorrow.
