Li-Fi is a label for wireless-communication systems using light as a carrier instead of traditional radio frequencies, as in Wi-Fi..  Nan , a professor at shanghai’s fudan university  along with her research team have experimented using the light from  a one watt LED bulb to transmit data ,rather than audio frequencies that traditional Wi-Fi Uses. The bulb is equipped with a microchip and can produce data speeds up to 150megabits per second .its faster and cheaper. It’s found that it has transmitted data at 3Gbps using conventional LED bulbs in a laboratory setting. In a real-world setting (at a trade fair), the same system was capable of 500Mbps .Moving forward, we’re still waiting for the first commercial .Li-Fi LED bulbs and LiFi-equipped laptops/smart phones to come to market.

In October 2011, companies and industry groups formed the Li-Fi Consortium, to promote high-speed optical wireless systems and to overcome the limited amount of radio-based wireless spectrum available by exploiting a completely different part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

So we r finding many changes in our technologies.So we must support everyone in doing such activites.:)
