Delhi Daredevils. As the name suggests it is one of the team which dares all the team and play like devils against al the team that too mercilessily. Delhi Daredevils intially who were bought by GMR Holdings at 2008 IPL was a good team all and all. They had appointed Virender Sehwag as their icon player and even made him the captain too.The team was further bolsterd by the likes of Gautam Gambhir the fellow Delhi mate and his fellow opening parner with Virender Sehwag then with the likes of T.Dilshan, A.B.Devilliers,G.Mcgrath,S.Malik,Mohd.Asif, D.Vettori etc. did well in the group stages they were one of the clear favourites to win the IPL alongside 2-3 teams but in the semifinals they lost against the Rajasthan Royals who went on to win the first season of IPL. In the second season which was held at South Africa again Delhi showed its potential through its all round performance and reached semi finals again fate had the same decision and they lost Deccan Chargers who went on to win that IPL Edition. The Third Season saw Sehwag transferring the helm to Gautam Gambhir who also did well to lead the team but missed on the semi's spot due to some bad luck and was placed 5th. Now in the next Auction at 2011 the DD management retained only Virender Sehwag and left out all their players and made some new purchases and Sehwag again came back to Captain the side but that year was disastorous and Delhi almost finished last in the table. Now then it was time for 5th IPL where Delhi made some smart buys of that of Kevin Pietersen,Mahela Jayawardene etc and due to which they reached the Playoffs in 3 years but eventhough they finished 1st in the group stage they could not qualify for the finals and again were knocked out at playoffs. Now at the 6 th season Sehwag again came out of the helm and it was given to M.Jayawardene, which again turned out to be a disastorous campaign for Delhi side. So when they come to 7th edition they felt  that they need to have a comletely new team so they did not retain anyone even Sehwag and they builded a new team for IPL -7 in the recently concluded auction.
