The FIFA World Cup 2014, an international men's football tournament, that is hosting in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July 2014. It will be the second time that Brazil has hosted the competition, after 1950. Brazil was elected as host nation in 2007 by FIFA. It will be the 20th football world cup.The 19 World Cup tournaments have been won by eight different teams. Brazil have won five times, Italy four times, West Germany three times, Argentina and Uruguay two times and England, France & spain once.

The next world cups will be hosted by Russia in 2018 and Qatar in 2022.

The national teams of 32 countries qualified for World cup 2014 from 203 FIFA national teams participated in the qualification stages. 24 of 32 team qualifiers were present in the previous tournament, Bosnia and Herzegovina , which qualified for the first time as an independant nation.

The twelve host cities for world cup are: Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Cuiaba, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, 
Salvador and Sao Paulo.

For the first time at a World Cup Finals, the officials will be assisted by goal-line technology. The German company Goal Control was selected 
as the tournament's official goal-line technology provider.The official logo of the competition is titled "Inspiration", and was created by Brazilian agency. 

The design is based around a photograph of three victorious hands together raising the World Cup trophy and its yellow and green colouring is meant to represent Brazil warmly welcoming the world to their country.The official ball of the World Cup will be the Adidas Brazuca.This was selected by a public vote from more than 1 million Brazilian football fans.The sponsors of the World Cup are divided into three categories: Fifa Partners,FIFA World Cup Sponsors and National Supporters.

FIFA issued a total of 3,334,524 tickets for the tournament.FIFA has received 3.5 million ticket requests in total.Brazilian authorities have confirmed that 150,000 police and troops will be deployed to the world cup to secure the tourist and violent protest during the tournament.

Brazil, the five-time champions will be hopeful of lifting the trophy again this year. Spain and Germany in good form, and other surprises to come to the fore.
